Capturing your pregnancy journey is the most beautiful treat you can give yourself.
Some women want to feel like a model for a day and have a pregnancy photoshoot in the studio. Others prefer a more relaxed shoot outdoors and others prefer a simple shoot at home.
I really enjoy studio sessions, because I can control the light and I can offer a better experience to my clients. I can also be more creative. Outdoor shoots in spring and summer when the weather is warm are great especially if it’s the second or third pregnancy and siblings are involved in the pregnancy shoot.
On a few occasions, I visit clients at their homes too. When you are pregnant, your body changes daily and you might feel discomfort. Or not if you are lucky!
Going to clients’ homes is definitely a way to make them feel at ease.
I actually know these guys quite well and I photographed their wedding as well. There was no need to feel comfortable with each other, just the desire to have an intimate session in their home. But in general, if I agree to do a home session, I need to see the place in advance through videos and photos so I can better understand what’s the light like and know what to expect.
In fact, one of the main issues for a home photoshoot is the poor light. You might think you have lots of light because you have a window in your bedroom. If that window is not oriented in the right direction the light can be quite poor. Another common issue, especially in London flats, is the size of the rooms. As they are generally quite small it’s hard to get more creative photos or photos you might like. So please consider that when you want to book a pregnancy shoot at home.
I loved straight away the beautiful natural light coming through their bedroom. It gave such a magical and soft atmosphere. At the time of the shoot, it was summer when the light is warm and the evenings are long.
The light from the door window gave me the idea of doing a silhouette and I love the result. I love doing this type of image in my studio and I wanted to recreate something similar.
